Finding the right place to call home in New York City is a journey that can be both exhilarating and challenging. For many, it's a test of patience and persistence, especially when dealing with the city's fast-paced and sometimes frustrating real estate market. In Brooklyn, an agency that aims to simplify this process is Brooklyn Group. Operating as a real estate and apartment rental agency, they offer a range of services designed to help local users find their ideal living situation. This article will provide an in-depth, factual look at what Brooklyn Group offers, based on public data and the experiences of real customers. We will explore their location, the services they provide, and the highlights of their client interactions, all to help you determine if they are the right partner for your next move.
The real estate market in New York is unique, and working with a local agency that understands its nuances is crucial. Brooklyn Group has been a presence in this market, with a focus on both property rentals and sales. We'll delve into the specific roles they play, such as that of a real estate broker and in real estate sales management, and what that means for you as a client. While experiences can vary, as seen in the provided reviews, a comprehensive look at their services can help paint a clearer picture of their capabilities and what you can expect when you choose to work with them. From finding a rental on short notice to navigating a move across the country, we'll examine how Brooklyn Group fits into the complex ecosystem of New York real estate.
Brooklyn Group is headquartered at 247 Boerum St, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA. This address places the agency in the heart of Brooklyn's vibrant East Williamsburg/Bushwick neighborhood. This area is known for its blend of residential and commercial properties, offering a prime location for an agency that deals with both rentals and sales. Being in this neighborhood gives Brooklyn Group a local advantage and a deep understanding of the real estate trends and opportunities in one of the city's most dynamic boroughs.
The location offers decent accessibility for clients who wish to visit the office in person. The area is well-connected by public transportation, with several subway lines, including the L, J, and M trains, serving the surrounding area. This makes it convenient for clients coming from different parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is also important to note that the building features a wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring that the services are available to all prospective clients. However, as one of the reviews highlights, the agency also operates through online communication and listings on sites like Zillow, indicating that they also cater to clients who are not yet in New York, providing a flexible approach to their service. The combination of a physical location and a strong online presence means they can serve a wide range of clients, from locals to those relocating from other cities.
Brooklyn Group provides a set of services that focus on the core functions of a real estate and apartment rental agency. Their offerings are designed to assist both property owners and individuals looking for a new home.
Property Rentals: A primary service of the agency is property rentals. They help individuals and families find apartments that meet their specific criteria, such as neighborhood preference, amenities, and budget. They act as a liaison between tenants and landlords, and as a rental agency, they have access to a network of properties to assist clients in their search.
Real Estate Sales Management: This service involves overseeing the process of selling properties. A real estate sales manager typically works with a team of agents, helping to set sales goals, develop strategies, and ensure the entire sales process, from listing to closing, is handled efficiently and professionally. This indicates the agency's involvement in a more high-level, structured approach to real estate transactions, particularly on the sales side.
Real Estate Broker: As a real estate broker, the agency is licensed to oversee real estate transactions and manage other agents. This designation signifies a higher level of education and experience in the field. A broker can work with both buyers and sellers, and their role often involves handling the technical and legal aspects of a transaction, such as preparing contracts and managing escrow accounts. This is a key distinction from a standard agent and shows their capacity for complex transactions.
The features and highlights of Brooklyn Group are best understood through the experiences of their clients, which can vary greatly. Here are some of the key takeaways from the available public information:
Professional and Accommodating Agents: One review highlights a positive experience with an agent named Skyye, who was described as very professional, friendly, and accommodating. This suggests that the agency has agents who are willing to go above and beyond to find a good fit for their clients, even under tight deadlines and with specific requirements.
Personalized Service: The positive review notes that the agent "almost felt like he was looking for the apartment for himself," demonstrating a high level of personal investment in the client's needs. This kind of thoughtful service, which balances specific criteria with available options, is a significant highlight in the competitive NYC market.
Online Presence and Communication: The agency uses online platforms like Zillow to communicate with prospective clients. This is a common and necessary feature in today's real estate world, allowing for initial contact and information sharing before an in-person viewing. The ability to begin the process online is a convenient feature for many users, especially those relocating.
Inconsistent Communication: A negative review, however, points out a major drawback: inconsistent communication. The client reported difficulties in getting a response via phone, text, and email, which led to frustration and a feeling of being discriminated against. This suggests that while some agents are highly responsive, the overall communication process can be unreliable, which is a critical point for anyone relying on a real estate agency for their housing needs.
Confusing Listings: The same review mentions that the company's website showed many available units, while a representative stated that there was nothing available in the client’s desired area. This discrepancy can be confusing and misleading for potential renters and is a factor to consider when using their services.

Choosing a real estate agency in New York City is a decision that requires careful consideration, especially when faced with the potential for both outstanding service and frustrating communication. Brooklyn Group is a choice worth considering for its capacity to deliver on specific and challenging client needs. The positive experience with an agent who was able to find a suitable apartment for a family relocating from another state in just 12 days, despite a strict list of requirements, is a testament to the fact that they have the expertise and dedicated professionals to get the job done. This demonstrates their ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and efficiency, making them a viable option for those with complex or urgent housing needs.
However, the inconsistent service and communication issues highlighted in other reviews are also crucial to consider. For New Yorkers, reliable communication is non-negotiable. The frustration of being told one thing on a website and another over the phone, or not receiving any response at all, can make the already difficult process of apartment hunting even more stressful. This is a significant point of consideration for anyone looking for a seamless, transparent experience. In a market where professionalism and responsiveness are key, the client's experience can vary greatly with Brooklyn Group. Therefore, while they have demonstrated the ability to deliver exceptional results with some clients, it is important to approach them with a clear understanding of what you need and to ensure a consistent line of communication is established from the very beginning. For a client who connects with a dedicated and responsive agent like Skyye, the experience can be excellent, but for others, it may fall short of expectations.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been trying to get in touch with this company for weeks now. They were communicating with me via affordable housing site. Told me they had a lot of available units and to call the office. I called, I texted and I emailed several times. No response. When someone did answer me yesterday the young lady said there was nothing available only in the Bronx. Mind you the website has lots of availability. I feel discriminated upon.
September 04 · Julia PurcellWe moved from Miami to New York (into a hotel) in February 2025. We applied for an apartment online on zillow.com, and Skyye contacted us immediately. He noted all of our criteria for an apartment. He had to strike a balance between specific neighborhoods (because of highly rated schools for our children), newly built apartments (with certain amenities), and a reasonable rent. After a few apartment viewings and within 12 days, he had found us our current apartment, which we are very happy with. Skyye was very professional, friendly, accommodating, and also very thoughtful. It almost felt like he was looking for the apartment for himself, because he was so easy to reach. We wish everyone as good an experience with a real estate agent as we had with Skyye, especially when looking for an apartment from a hotel room with a wife and two children (you will love it ;-) ).
April 27 · Mis Mis TshabaWe toured an apartment with Brooklyn Group a few months ago. We visited a unit advertised at $5,300/month, really liked it, and the agent encouraged us to apply quickly and leave a deposit to secure it — which we did (everything seemed fine at this point). The next day, the agent called us saying the landlord had changed his mind and was now asking $6,300 gross — $1,000 more than advertised — after we had already paid the deposit and application fees.We then had to go back and forth many times to get our deposit refunded, and despite the agent admitting it was his mistake for miscommunicating the landlord's offer, we never got the application fees back. Completely unacceptable.Avoid Brooklyn Group — they will try to rip you off!
May 03 · Nicolas TachetWe paid a $1,925 deposit on March 25 and were immediately met with delay after delay. It took until April 10 just to receive an approval, and then another two weeks before a lease was sent. In total, we waited over five weeks and never received a lease we could reasonably sign. The lease contradicted multiple things we were told in person. I disclosed that I had a cat and was told this would be fine with a pet rider. The lease included a blanket no-pet clause and no rider was attached. We were also told we could install shelving. The lease stated no alterations were allowed without written consent. These are not technicalities. They are material misrepresentations that could have created legal and financial risk.We also asked multiple times for clear documentation on the backyard division. Despite assurances, we never received any specifics. The final excuse for the delay in sending the lease was a Passover office closure, but this was never communicated until we followed up ourselves. After receiving the lease on April 24, we raised all of these concerns in writing and requested the return of our deposit. We offered to review a corrected lease for a possible June move-in if everything was properly addressed. Since then, we have been completely ignored. No response, no resolution, and our money is still being held. This was a deeply unprofessional experience. The team, including Kenzie Finizio, failed to communicate clearly, delivered documents far outside of the promised timeline, and have ghosted us entirely when asked to make things right.Tenants deserve better. Proceed with caution and get everything in writing upfront.
August 11 · Karina PimentaSure my experience with this realtor company was disappointing for several reasons first, the service was unreliable. There were multiple occasions when appointments were missed or delayed without prior notice second communication was poor. I often found it challenging to get timely updates, or responses to my queries. Lastly promises made by the management. We’re not fulfilled which led to a lot of frustration and inconvenience on my end.
