420 Kent Luxury Brooklyn Apartments Introduce
In the competitive landscape of New York City real estate, luxury apartment buildings often market a lifestyle of convenience and high-end amenities. 420 Kent Luxury Brooklyn Apartments, a prominent waterfront development in Williamsburg, aims to fulfill this promise with its striking design and extensive list of features. Developed by Spitzer Enterprises and designed by ODA New York, this complex is composed of three multi-dimensional glass towers that stand out against the Brooklyn skyline. The building features 857 residences and offers a vast amount of indoor and outdoor amenity space, all with a stunning view of the East River and Manhattan. For many prospective residents, the appeal lies in the promise of a modern, amenity-rich living experience. However, as is often the case with large-scale luxury developments, the reality of living in such a building can be complex. The experience is not just about the view or the amenities; it's also about the management, the community, and the practicalities of daily life. For anyone considering a move to 420 Kent, it is essential to look beyond the marketing materials and understand the full picture, including the potential challenges and limitations that come with living in a building of this scale and type. The information and reviews from actual tenants provide a more nuanced perspective on what it's like to live at this high-profile Williamsburg address.
420 Kent is situated at a unique and prominent location on the Brooklyn waterfront. The address is 420 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA. This prime spot offers residents breathtaking, three-sided views of the Manhattan skyline, bridges, and the East River. The location is an integral part of the building's appeal, providing a direct connection to the city's waterfront and the evolving neighborhood of South Williamsburg. However, while the views are a clear highlight, the accessibility of the location is a topic of concern for some residents. One review points out that the walk to the Marcy Avenue (J, M, Z) and Bedford Avenue (L) subway stations is a "very difficult" 15 to 20 minutes, with the trains themselves being unreliable, especially on weekends. While a free private shuttle bus to the Marcy Ave lines is a service provided, it does not alleviate the concern for those who rely heavily on public transportation. For those who enjoy walking, the location has a high Walk Score of 92, and a high Bike Score of 95, making it a "Walker's Paradise" and a "Biker's Paradise." The building also offers wheelchair-accessible entrances and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, which are important features for accessibility. The location is a trade-off: stunning waterfront views and proximity to parks and the ferry landing, versus a less convenient public transit experience compared to other parts of Williamsburg. The presence of a ferry landing under 500 feet away is a notable alternative for commuting to Manhattan.
The building is a self-contained community, and as such, it offers services that are directly related to the building and its residents. These are not the typical services of a traditional real estate agency that helps people find properties all over the city; rather, they are amenities and services designed to enhance the living experience within the building. These services and amenities include:
- Dog Walking Services: A convenient service for pet owners, this indicates a pet-friendly environment and a commitment to resident convenience.
- Video Tours: For prospective renters, this service allows for a virtual viewing of apartments, which is particularly useful for those who are relocating from out of town.
- Outdoor Lounges: The building boasts a significant amount of outdoor space, including multiple outdoor lounges, a landscaped waterfront deck, and a sunken tranquility garden, all designed for relaxation and social gatherings.
- Concierge and Package Delivery: The building provides a 24/7 front desk concierge and services for package delivery and other lifestyle needs.
- Rooftop Pool: An outdoor rooftop pool with views of the Manhattan skyline is a key amenity, though a public review notes it comes with an additional seasonal fee.
- Fitness Facilities: There is a large indoor and outdoor fitness center, a movement studio, and a functional training room. A public review notes that the gym is an additional charge.
- Shared Lounges and Spaces: The building has various community spaces, including a game room, a quiet lounge, and a resident’s waterfront bar.
The highlights of 420 Kent are its striking design and its extensive list of amenities. The multi-dimensional glass towers by ODA New York are a unique feature, and the promise of a "lifestyle like never before" with a waterfront esplanade and stunning views is a strong selling point. However, a series of public reviews from previous and current tenants reveal significant issues that are important to highlight. A former tenant describes a "nightmare" experience with management, alleging they are "unethical and not responsive." This review details an ongoing struggle to get a security deposit back and claims management tried to charge for "thousands of dollars worth of damages" that were not incurred by the tenant. The review also alleges that management "flat out ignores all calls and emails," and the former tenant is having to go to court to get their money back. Another review echoes the concerns about the overall value, stating that the "location and additional fees/restrictions with amenities make it worth the cost." The review points out that the pool and gym are an "additional charge," with the pool costing a significant amount for the season, and there are strict guest restrictions on the rooftop and lounge areas. Other issues noted include poor T-Mobile cell service in the building and a "very large fee" for a replacement key. These reviews present a strong and consistent narrative of dissatisfaction with the management and the perceived value of the building, which directly contradicts the promotional tone of a "luxury" experience. The building also has a history of maintenance issues, with some residents reporting noise from neighbors and smoke permeating hallways, which management has had difficulty resolving. While some tenants may have had positive experiences, the available reviews paint a picture of a complex with significant operational and management challenges.
For those looking to contact 420 Kent Luxury Brooklyn Apartments, the phone number is (718) 387-0014, with a mobile phone number of +1 718-387-0014. The building's address is 420 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA. It is important to note that this contact information is for the building's leasing and management office, not a third-party real estate agency. Prospective renters should use these contact points to inquire about availability, schedule video tours, or ask any specific questions they may have. However, given the strong negative reviews regarding management's responsiveness, it would be prudent for anyone to be persistent in their communication and to document all interactions in writing. The availability of multiple contact numbers is a positive, but the substance of the negative reviews should be a key consideration for anyone reaching out.
When considering 420 Kent, what is worth choosing is a balance of its appealing features and its documented downsides. The unique architectural design, stunning views, and extensive amenity spaces are undeniably attractive. However, the recurring and serious complaints in the public reviews about management's responsiveness, the handling of security deposits, and the additional fees and restrictions on amenities present a significant risk. The review from the former tenant is a strong warning about the potential for a "nightmare" experience and a struggle to get a security deposit returned. This is a critical factor for any prospective renter, as a good relationship with management is key to a positive living experience. The inconvenience of the public transportation and the added costs for key amenities like the pool and gym are also important considerations that may undermine the value proposition. For someone who prioritizes a modern building with a wide range of amenities and is not dependent on specific subway lines, the building's features may be appealing. However, for those who value transparent, responsive management and a straightforward rental process, the provided information suggests that caution is warranted. The decision to rent at 420 Kent should be made with a full understanding of both its marketed luxury and the documented challenges that some residents have faced.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1DO NOT RENT HERE!!!!I am a previous tenant. Management has been shown to be unethical and not responsive, not following the law with returning security deposits and trying to bind tenants into outlandish and erroneous charges upon move out, as they did with me.I have still not received a security deposit back. When I had my move out, they tried to get me to sign for the responsibility of thousands of dollars worth of damages that I did not incur (I originally did a lease takeover before signing my own lease). Thankfully, I protected myself and took photos when I moved in so they were not able to hold me responsible. Still, after agreeing in writing with management to get my full security deposit, I am having to go to court to get my money back since management flat out ignores all calls and emails.Be careful. There are plenty of great places to rent from in Williamsburg and this is not one of them.
September 04 · LisaBuilding and staff were nice but I do not think the location and additional fees/restrictions with amenities make it worth the cost.Location: The 15 minute walk to JZ and 20 minutes to the L (and unreliability of those trains) is very difficult if you rely on public transportation. JZ has been closed on a lot of weekends. It is not easy to get around that area or to have people visit you.Amenities: You can only have 2 guests on the rooftop and lounge area and they monitor that very closely. The pool and gym are also an additional charge. I believe the pool is $600 for the season.Other: There is almost no T-mobile cell service in the building. They have a very large fee if you forget your key and need to borrow the replacement one.
April 08 · KI would really love to only speak of the building and my love for its architecture, views, amenities and the wonderful front desk employees but I truly came here to speak on the horrific treatment of the package room attendant. He has continuously returned my packages. I see him exude politeness to the white folk and immediately become assertive and aggressive when he sees black people. He has shown no compassion at all with receiving work equipment and so much more. I am not sure why they continue to allow his employment here. It’s disgusting.
