Eagle + West Introduce
For many New Yorkers, the dream of finding a home that combines urban sophistication with serene, natural beauty seems like an impossible one. Yet, on the Brooklyn waterfront, a new standard for luxury living has emerged with the development of Eagle + West. This iconic apartment complex, part of the expansive Greenpoint Landing waterfront esplanade, offers a unique blend of modern design, comprehensive amenities, and a prime location that provides residents with an unparalleled living experience. It is more than just a place to live; it's a community designed to offer a resort-style lifestyle right in the heart of one of Brooklyn's most vibrant neighborhoods.
Eagle + West is an apartment building that stands out, both literally and figuratively. Its two architecturally distinctive towers, designed by the renowned OMA Architects, lean into and away from each other, creating a dynamic visual that has become a new landmark on the Brooklyn skyline. This bold design isn't just for show; it's meticulously crafted to maximize breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, the East River, and the surrounding Greenpoint community. The building's commitment to quality is evident in its thoughtful details, from the high-quality kitchen and Bosch appliances to the well-designed digital Latch door system that eliminates the need for keys. This attention to detail, from the macro-level architecture to the micro-level unit finishes, is a significant part of what makes Eagle + West a truly high-end residence.
While the building's stunning aesthetics and luxury features are undeniable, the resident experience is what truly defines it. As noted by a resident who lived there for 18 months, the building staff—from the doormen to the handymen—are "awesome," with the doormen being praised for their professionalism and "common sense attitude." This level of service is a critical component of luxury living in New York, and it contributes significantly to the overall sense of security and comfort. The residential experience is a mix of highs and lows, but the building’s positives, such as the brilliant air conditioning units that maintain a consistent temperature and the high-quality blackout blinds, are features that are often overlooked but make a huge difference in day-to-day life.

Choosing a place to live in New York City is a decision of both lifestyle and practicality. Eagle + West, despite some of the valid criticisms raised in a former resident's review regarding construction materials and elevator issues, remains a strong contender in the Greenpoint luxury market. The sheer quantity and quality of its amenities—from the resort-style pool to the extensive fitness facilities—offer a living experience that few other buildings can match. These amenities are not just add-ons; they are integral to the community's design, providing spaces for work, relaxation, and social interaction that are truly a cut above the rest.
Furthermore, the building's staff, particularly the doormen, receive consistent and high praise for their professionalism and helpfulness. In a city where good service can be a rarity, this is a significant factor in making a resident feel at home and secure. The apartment units themselves are well-designed with high-quality appliances and thoughtful features that make daily life more comfortable. The brilliant air conditioning and blackout blinds, for example, are simple details that contribute to a better quality of life and are often absent in comparable buildings.
Finally, the location on the waterfront, with its jaw-dropping views and access to the Greenpoint Landing esplanade, offers a peaceful urban oasis that is hard to find. The opportunity to live in an architecturally significant building with such extensive amenities and a strong sense of community, all while being a short distance from the best of Brooklyn and Manhattan, makes Eagle + West a compelling choice. While it may not be perfect, its many positives place it among the better "luxury" places to live in Greenpoint, making it a worthy option for anyone seeking an elevated living experience in one of the city's most desirable neighborhoods.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I lived here for 18 months, and there’s lots of good things to say. Some of the criticisms others have mentioned are valid and I’ve personally seen some of the horror stories happen to friends. I’ll try to be objective here and share both the upsides ans downsides.Positives: The building staff is awesome, from the doormen to the handymen. By some distance the best doormen of all the buildings I’ve lived in, both in terms of professionalism and a good common sense attitude. Tarnado, you are awesome. The view if you have Manhattan facing window is nuts. Even though the shine wears off after a while, it’s still a ridiculous view. The kitchen and appliance quality is very high. I appreciate that they’ve spent money on good Bosch appliances and soft close drawers for example. Personally I also liked the digital Latch door system. It was great not having to carry keys. The blinds in the bedroom are actual blackout blinds too. Really well thought out to include proper blinds and not those horrible cheap white plastic ones most buildings come with. The aircon units are brilliant. They actually keep the unit a consistent temperature that you set it to, unlike the individual window mounted units used in many other luxury buildings. The amenities on the whole are good and very spacious. The great room, the working areas are great compared to the competition. Lastly the general architecture of the building is wonderful and stands out from the cookie clutter buildings around it.The negatives:The fall from grace for this building is the cheap construction/materials used. We would get a full draft in the apartment on windy days even with the windows and doors closed. The floors also come across as cheap vinyl and the lack of ceiling mounted lights is bewildering. The amenities (particularly the coworking space) was falling apart when we moved in and the building had just opened at that point. The common amenities like the kids room, indoor pool and gym desperately need to be cleaned way more often than they are. I wouldn’t trust my kids touching anything in the playroom. The elevators are slow, there’s not enough of them and they’re often broken. It’s not unheard of to have 5min waits for the elevator at times. How a building in NYC can mess up elevators is beyond me.There’s dogs everywhere and the outside of the building smells like dog pee. Fun.Lastly, I personally saw the inside of my friends apartment after the maintenance crew crudely hacked holes in their wall in an attempts to fix a water leak. They didn’t put up any protective plastic to prevent dust and damage to their furniture, they didn’t properly cover up the holes after they made them and they rescinded their offer to cover damages after giving the offer. I didn’t experience any issues with management or maintenance myself but it’s something I’d be mindful of.It’s a good building. Lots to like about it. A few things that let it down. On balance, I think it’s one of the better ‘luxury’ places to live in greenpoint.
August 06 · DavidI lived at Eagle West Apartments for 14 months, and while I truly loved the neighborhood and the wonderful people living there, my experience with management left much to be desired. One of my main concerns is the safety of children and pets. I strongly advise against leaving them unattended in the unit. For instance, the windows in my unit on 32 nd floor , which don’t have a terrace, should only be able to open halfway. However, due to the poor quality of the equipment used, a strong wind caused the screws to loosen, and the window swung wide open. If a child or pet had been unattended, it could have resulted in a horrific accident that would have been impossible to come back from.Additionally, I encountered issues with the elevators—many of them were broken. The overall quality of the apartments was disappointing. Moreover, the management raised my rent by $1,200 and refused to maintain my previous rate, only to list the unit again at the same price I was paying just a month later. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and left me feeling very frustrated.Despite these challenges, I want to emphasize that the neighborhood itself is lovely, and I hope others have a better experience than I did.
July 15 · ArshiaI just moved in a week ago and I could not be happier. Danna the leasing agent really sold it. She was so patient as we toured 20 different units. She was so pleasant and made us feel at home instantly. The people in the building are great and the views are unreal. The unit has incredible finishes and is everything I have ever wanted. It is so safe and the nightlife is great. Best restaurants and cafes! Would recommend to anyone :) All of the other negative reviews are so wrong.
August 11 · Leila LicinaI have lived in 1 Eagle for about 2 years and despite the occasional rental issue, I have really enjoy my experience. I've found the maintenance staff to be exceptionally responsive and helpful. Simon in particular always goes above and beyond. He is diligent, communicative, and super thorough. He is quick to jump on even the smallest task. Whenever I have a question or concern, he is on it and truly makes my day. Also despite some challenges with the leasing team, I've found Joe and Kevin in the main office to be so pleasant to work with. They are engaging and responsive. And Tarnado and the other front desk are always friendly and super helpful. Anyone searching for a quiet, well maintained atmosphere, I would definitely recommend!
May 24 · Katherine SpahrWe have been living at 1 Eagle for nearly two years. Initially, we faced several management and maintenance issues, as expected with a new building but over the past six months, a complete change in the management team has been a game changer.Recently, I misplaced my Apple laptop computer for over four days, and the new management team not only found it but also kept it safely until I came to retrieve it. Joe and Kevin were amazing, kind and very supportive during a webinar we hosted last week making sure we had everything we needed.Greenpoint is peaceful, surrounded by nature, and offers an unbeatable city view. I highly recommend this building for remote work.
