June 03 · ini guaMartins was tremendously helpful in guiding me through the process of getting my first home. He was very familiar with coop buildings in the area I wanted to move to. He was available to answer my questions. I definitely recommend!
May 25 · JennLong over do. Saw him recently and he tried to hide. I want to warn buyers and sellers.Sellers and Buyers: It costs nothing upfront to obtain a realtor, so why choose an unknown company when you can get white-glove service from an established one?In 2021, I used Douglas Elliman (DE) to sell my co-op. The board president delayed the process, causing the buyer to back out. DE set my expectations for a good realtor. In 2022, I relisted and sought a realtor with influence over the board and management. Ricardo Martins (RM) claimed to have connections. He boasted about his relationships with board members and management. Based on this, I proceeded with him.BIG MISTAKE!Conflict of Interest – He took on multiple listings in my building, potentially steering buyers away from my unit for higher commissions elsewhere.Discrimination – Twice, he made offensive remarks: (1) "Bengali people are difficult and demand too much." (2) "Women are scared and want move-in-ready apartments."Deception & ManipulationWhen my buyer faced issues, RM, hired for his "influence," admitted he had none.I attempted to fire him in early fall. He convinced me to relist with misleading pricing tactics and created duplicate listings to make my unit seem newly listed. My unit ($179K, $1K maint.) competed with his other listing ($220K, same size, higher maint.), which he sold first.I tried firing him again in December, saying if my unit didn’t sell, I’d part ways. Magically, I got an offer ($170K). Initially, RM said the buyer wouldn't qualify but pushed the sale when I threatened to leave.Buyer supposedly had $90K cash. RM assured me the board no longer looked at salary. Later, I found out the buyer was selling another co-op, a red flag for board approval. RM said, “No contingency—if their sale fails, you keep the down payment.” Turns out, the buyer didn’t have the $90K yet. RM then claimed he’d find me a cash buyer while waiting. At this point, I was done.AWOL – After contracts were signed, RM went radio silent. Unlike DE, which provided weekly updates, I had to chase RM for any info. The sale collapsed on April 18th when the board rejected the buyer's income level—exactly what RM predicted in the fall but still pushed forward. I fired him that day.Refused to Return My Key – 30 days post-firing, I remembered RM still had my key. My contract ended in May, so I returned to my original realtors. When I asked for my key, RM argued he was “salvaging the sale” but never informed me. He falsely claimed the contract ran until June. When he finally showed up, he tried different keys, then demanded I sign a form. When I insisted on reading it first, he became aggressive, scratched me twice with his pen, and tried snatching the paper from my hand. Will be publishing this review on every site to help buyers and sellers.
March 24 · LuisaMr. Martin is very nice guy. I was purchased my property by him. He was handled very smoothly & finished my closing very quickly. Thanks 👍
May 13 · RAJU MUDLIYARThis guy is a fraud. Do not rely on the other reviews because most are false. Do not work with this guy as there are better real estate brokers. My wife and I made an appointment to see a co-op in Jamaica queens, R Martins showed us the apartment but kept saying the maintenance fee was $1200, we kept saying that that is affordable and he completely changed the amount to $1500 (at end of showing- not before) saying he forgot to mention that, he had 4/5 opportunities to mention the amount. And he didn’t. When I told him that it’s very important to disclose the amount he just looked at us with a face without acknowledging that. It seemed to that he doesn’t disclose these information before as it very importantAlso when I asked if the apartment came with a parking spot he said to give me 40k above asking price and he will guarantee a spot (rental spot) - which I found hilarious. This guy is a scam and I feel bad for the people who would be willing to work with him.
