They manage the property I rented in MD, Lambeth House. I had a major issue with the property manager Joann. When I was moving out they did not care that she did not follow the law. Maybe it is by their direction. I contacted them via certified mail regarding the issue and never heard back.Once you move out it is hard to communicate with the PM or headquarters.Long story short, I am having to go to small claims court since she did not provide me with the documents I am legally able to have regarding the repair of the carpet that she said had to be replaced. I believe they claim to do certain things within the apartment but don't actually do them at all or drastically overcharge you and do not send proof of the actual cost. All I asked was for the supporting documents, and she would just ignore me for weeks and then declined. It is really sad honestly, how they just fully disregard the law when you move out. - Sabrina Burrell

Kenilworth Equities Introduce

In the dynamic and often challenging world of New York City real estate, there is a wide spectrum of firms, from small brokerages to large-scale developers and property managers. Kenilworth Equities is a prominent example of the latter, a full-service real estate firm that operates on a comprehensive scale, handling everything from property management and acquisitions to large-scale development projects. Unlike a typical real estate agency focused solely on individual home sales, Kenilworth Equities, with a history dating back to 1964, has a business model built on the long-term ownership, management, and development of a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties. They are a company that is deeply involved in the entire lifecycle of a property, from the initial planning and construction to ongoing operations and asset management. For a New Yorker, this means that while their name might not be on the front of a small brokerage, it is often tied to the management of large apartment buildings, retail centers, and other income-producing properties across the East Coast. This integrated approach positions them as a key player in the urban landscape, providing professional services for property owners and residents alike.

The experience of working with a large-scale real estate management and development firm like Kenilworth Equities can vary greatly depending on the specific property and the individual point of contact. While the provided reviews highlight serious concerns from a tenant about communication and legal compliance during a move-out, it is important for prospective clients to understand the firm’s broader business and consider all aspects of their operations. The reviews mention a property located in Maryland, indicating the company's regional reach extends beyond New York, and that the nature of the issue was with a local property manager and the documentation of repairs. A key takeaway is that for a large firm with a multi-state portfolio, communication can sometimes be a challenge, particularly during complex situations like security deposit disputes. However, this does not necessarily reflect the full scope of their real estate development, brokerage, or advisory services. According to their public information, Kenilworth Equities prides itself on an active interest in all its properties, providing 24-hour emergency availability, and ensuring hands-on, personal attention. This suggests that while individual experiences may differ, the company's stated goal is to provide a high level of service across its platform. This is a crucial distinction for New Yorkers to make, as it is a reminder to always verify a firm's scope of services and to conduct due diligence on the specific property or project they are involved with.

Kenilworth Equities is located at 600 Madison Ave, Suite 2001, New York, NY 10022. The office is situated on Madison Avenue, a globally recognized street synonymous with high-end commerce and business. The location is exceptionally accessible to anyone in New York City. It is a short walk from several major subway stations, including the 59th Street-Lexington Avenue station (4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, and W trains), and the Lexington Avenue-53rd Street station (E and M trains), providing seamless connectivity to all boroughs and beyond. The area is also well-served by numerous bus lines. For those who drive, the office is centrally located with access to major thoroughfares and paid parking options nearby. This strategic location in a professional building on Madison Avenue reflects the firm’s focus on high-level real estate services, including brokerage, acquisition, and development. The centralized address makes it a convenient meeting point for clients, investors, and business partners from all parts of the city and beyond.

Kenilworth Equities offers a wide-ranging portfolio of real estate services that extend far beyond what a typical residential broker provides. Their business is built on three core pillars: development, management, and brokerage. This integrated model allows them to provide a comprehensive suite of services that a client might need. In the realm of real estate development, they specialize in everything from building development to land development and residential development, bringing new projects to life from the ground up. Their expertise also includes project management and land brokerage, making them a go-to partner for those looking to develop or acquire new properties. On the property management side, they handle the day-to-day operations of commercial and residential buildings, providing services that include general maintenance, financial oversight, and emergency response. They also offer a variety of advisory and consulting services, including mortgage brokerage, real estate tax assessment appeals, and acquisition and disposition strategies. This multi-faceted approach means they can handle complex and large-scale real estate needs, whether for a private investor, a corporation, or a residential cooperative. Their services are not geared toward finding a single apartment for a single person, but rather for managing large-scale assets and guiding clients through major real estate investments.

The services offered by Kenilworth Equities include:

  • Real Estate Development: Specializing in residential, commercial, and land development projects.
  • Property Management Services: Full-service management for residential and commercial properties, including maintenance, operations, and financial oversight.
  • Acquisition and Disposition: Strategic advisory services for buying and selling properties and large portfolios.
  • Real Estate Brokerage: Acting as a broker for a variety of property types, including unique and multi-million-dollar listings.
  • Advisory and Consulting Services: Providing expert advice on a wide range of topics, from estate tax assessments to mortgage financing.
  • Project Management: Overseeing complex development and renovation projects.
  • Tax Assessment Appeals: Assisting clients with the legal and financial process of appealing property tax assessments.

A number of key features and highlights make Kenilworth Equities a unique entity in the New York real estate market. Its long-standing history, with roots dating back to 1964, is a significant highlight. This longevity speaks to a level of stability and experience that is rare in the industry. They are a family-founded company with a core leadership team that has decades of experience in development, ownership, and management of income-producing properties. Another major highlight is their integrated business model. By combining development, management, and brokerage services under one roof, they offer a streamlined approach for clients who need comprehensive solutions. This means a single client could work with them on the acquisition of a property, the development of a building, and the long-term management of the asset. The firm's portfolio extends across the East Coast, showcasing their ability to handle diverse properties in various markets, from residential apartments to shopping centers and historic restorations. While some reviews may reflect challenges with specific properties or local managers, the overall business model is focused on large-scale asset management and development, which is a different service from what a typical residential brokerage provides. Their team includes professionals with backgrounds in real estate finance, accounting, and law, which allows them to offer sophisticated advisory services that go beyond simple transactions. This robust and multi-disciplinary approach is a key differentiator in a crowded market.

Key features and highlights of Kenilworth Equities include:

Their central location makes it convenient to arrange in-person meetings for high-level discussions regarding real estate projects and investments.

So, what makes Kenilworth Equities a firm worth choosing for New Yorkers? The value lies in their scale, their expertise, and their integrated business model. They are not the agency you would call to find a single-family home to buy or a one-bedroom apartment to rent; they are the firm you would work with for complex real estate challenges and large-scale investment opportunities. Their long history and diverse portfolio are powerful indicators of their ability to handle multifaceted real estate projects. While a few negative reviews from tenants may exist, it is essential to consider the distinction between a single tenant's experience with a local property manager and the broader, long-term business of the firm. For a New Yorker who is a property owner, developer, or investor, Kenilworth Equities offers a level of service and expertise that is hard to find in a smaller firm. They can be a long-term partner for everything from a land acquisition to the management of a commercial portfolio, making them a premier choice for those with significant real estate needs in New York and beyond.
