We began with doing our research via common online resources, as many buyers and sellers have done, and got paired with an agent (not Wilson; will refer to as “the previous agent”) by a website. The previous agent was helpful at first, showing us houses and putting in offers. We got very close to signing a contract with one of the houses we looked at and found some concerning issues during the inspection. We raised our questions. However, instead of helping us figure out the details, the previous agent started being very pushy, hoping to get the contract going. And that’s when we started thinking back on our whole experience with this previous agent. We did not receive much info from her on the houses we looked at (not even the property tax!) We started hearing things she said that raised the red flag for us, such as “the mortgage will just be 50 or 100 dollars more a month; the owner lived in there; it’s not like the house would collapse, etc.” (these quotes might not be the exact wording but you get the idea!)We decided to stop working with the previous agent and reached out to Wilson! Our family met Wilson for the first time a couple of years back at an open house event. We were not as prepared to purchase a home back then, so we kept Wilson’s contact information and moved on. After our horrible experience with the previous agent, we took the initiative to text Wilson, and explain our situation. Wilson was super friendly and thoroughly spent time learning about our experience, ensuring that his stepping in would not trigger ethical/legal issues with the previous agent.We looked at a couple of more houses with Wilson and ended up returning to the same house we were so close to signing the contract for.
