The promise of this community is to provide a lifestyle that is both engaging and effortless, where daily life is made better by thoughtfully designed spaces and services. While recent changes in management and ongoing construction in the area have presented some challenges, the foundational quality of the building and its fantastic location remain strong. The community's potential is enormous, and for many, it is already a great place to call home. The following sections will detail the specifics of this apartment complex, providing a factual overview of what makes it a noteworthy option for those looking to rent on Long Island.
The Core is located at 3 Hawkins Ave, Ronkonkoma, NY 11779, USA. Its address is a significant part of its appeal, as it is situated directly within the burgeoning Station Yards development, right at the geographic center of Long Island. This prime location offers unparalleled accessibility. Residents have seamless access to major commuter thoroughfares, including the Long Island Expressway, and are just steps away from the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station. This makes The Core an ideal choice for New York City commuters who seek a modern home outside the city without sacrificing a convenient commute. The location also offers easy access to Long Island MacArthur Airport, which is just a short drive away. Beyond its connectivity, The Core's location within Station Yards means residents can enjoy a walkable lifestyle, with a village green and a future downtown district right at their doorstep. For those with mobility needs, the complex provides a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible parking lot, ensuring convenience for all residents and visitors. The ongoing development in the area, while presenting temporary inconveniences like road closures and noise, is a testament to the future growth and value of this community. This location is designed to cater to a lifestyle of convenience and connection, offering a blend of suburban peace and urban amenities that is unique to this part of Long Island.
The Core provides a comprehensive list of services and amenities designed to enhance the living experience for its residents. The property is designed with a "vibrant to the core" mentality, offering a multitude of social, professional, and relaxation spaces. While some residents have noted a change in the personal touch of management, the range of physical services remains a key selling point. These services include:
Concierge and Management Services: The property features a lobby concierge, providing a convenient point of contact for residents. The leasing office and maintenance crew are often praised for their professionalism and efficiency, as noted in customer reviews.
On-Site Amenities: The complex offers a modern fitness center equipped with treadmills, spin bikes, rowing machines, and free weights, allowing residents to maintain an active lifestyle without leaving home. There is also a pet spa, which is a rare and highly valued feature for pet owners.

The adjacency to a village green provides a communal space for events and relaxation.
Commuter's Dream: With seamless access to the LIRR, the Long Island Expressway, and MacArthur Airport, The Core is perfectly positioned for both daily commuters and frequent travelers. This connectivity is a major draw for those who value convenience and mobility.
Pet-Friendly Community: The Core is a pet-friendly complex, with a pet spa as a unique amenity. This makes it an appealing choice for residents with furry companions, who often find it difficult to locate modern apartments that accommodate their pets.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I really enjoy living at this apartment complex—the atmosphere is welcoming, the community feels safe, and overall it’s been a great place to call home. The constant fire alarms have been a bit excessive. The amenities are well kept, and I appreciate the effort that goes into maintaining the property when called upon. One thing I’ve missed recently is the familiar presence of management. It used to feel very personal stopping by for packages, mail, or help around the buildings because you’d always be greeted by a friendly face. Over the last month or so (I imagine having to do with the change in leasing/management company) there has been a significant difference in this. A lot of the staff we know and love are no longer here- we no longer have the sense of community with kind greetings, helpful hands, or even friendly smiles. The Amazon lockers/package room has been in disarray- taking hours/days to get a package. The sense of connection hasn’t been quite the same, and it does make a noticeable difference in the overall experience. I think many residents value that personal touch and would love to see it return.
August 24 · Kyle CapozielloThe leasing office is fantastic—if I could give them their own stars, I would. The maintenance crew is great as well! The fire alarm goes off at least twice a week, and you’ll find yourself standing outside at all hours with no communication on when it will stop (as I’m writing this, it’s happening again). When construction was happening on nearby businesses, strong paint fumes filled our apartment and caused headaches. The walls are so thin that you can easily hear your neighbors’ conversations—whether they’re in their apartment, down the hall, or elsewhere. Currently trying to prep for an early morning of work, theres a DJ somewhere on the property and they might as well be in my apartment with me.When the complex schedules mandated work inside your unit, they don’t provide a 1–2 hour time frame. Instead, they give an eight-hour window during which it “could happen,” making it nearly impossible to plan your day.To top it off, parking is overpriced. The garage still isn’t finished, so you’re left making sure they’re not doing work in your assigned spot. The entire property feels like an ongoing construction site—roads are frequently closed, and even when they’re open, they’re in poor condition.
August 20 · Emily BeinlichMoved to the core last year in Oct and everything was great until they changed management companies. Most of the front lobby staff, that created a family environment, have all left. Currently there is a lack of presence, attention to detail, and social resident events. Most recently on Labor Day a group of us tried to use BBQ and none of them were working. We called the onsite 24hr maintenance service and waited outside for hours but nobody showed up or called us back after our multiple attempts- this single example was avoidable, unnecessary and wasn't the first time with same problem. We pay a big amenities fee and things like this should be quickly resolved and unrepeated. Also, we no longer have access to our rooftop amenity for a long time now and never get direct answer as to why or when it's reopening. The fire alarms are unnecessarily way too loud and go off too frequently. There seems to be a huge lack of communication from management to front desk staff, and therefore to residents. The amenities are nice, work orders are completed in a timely manner and maintenance staff is nice, building is clean, cleaning staff and front desk staff are capable and nice and the building is safe for now.
September 04 · Delina FajardoYou literally cannot sleep here. Drag racing and motorcycles in the adjacent garage keep you up all night. If you do finally sleep, garbage bins being dragged by loud employees at 6 am will sure get you back up…followed by a noisy compactor at 6:15…unbelievably loud garbage trucks clanging bins at 6:30…followed by the port-a-potty (placed outside residents’ windows, I kid you not) being flushed at 7 am.The rude garage manager decides that all residents who park above ground will be displaced for several days while he has the garage power washed. Mind you, there is no where else to park. Calls to management go unreturned. Same management decides that while the residents have no where to park, they will run a public event to make even a slim chance of finding parking void. Did I mention, we have to pay to park in the garage that we are displaced from? Are you kidding me.All in all, this place is a money grab with no effort put into their residents’ well being.
August 29 · TheodoreMoved to the core in November and was enjoying my first couple of months here until we started to have multiple leaks in all rooms of the apartment due to poor roofing. Maintenance came quickly but have yet to make repairs to our ceilings after months. To make matters worse, the kind, friendly, and helpful office staff have all been replaced once the management company changed hands. Nick at the leasing office was such a great help when we were touring different units and deciding which one we wanted to lease. He was always a smiling face in the office and at all resident events, which he always stayed after hours to attend. It’s a shame that he has been relocated to a different complex after he made moving to the Core feel so welcoming. You can tell he genuinely cares about the community here and really loved his job.Greystar should focus more on the things that ACTUALLY need fixing, like the fire alarms in the building going off constantly, rather than making changes to a perfectly pleasant, accommodating, and helpful leasing team that made living here enjoyable.
