What is worth choosing
The Capitol is an excellent choice for New Yorkers seeking a high-end, amenity-rich living experience in a vibrant and convenient location. The building's recent renovations have truly elevated its appeal, creating a visually stunning and functional environment that is a joy to come home to. The spacious apartments, with their incredible views and modern finishes, provide a comfortable sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city. The professional and friendly staff, as noted by numerous residents, are a key asset, making daily life easier and more pleasant. The presence of a responsive leasing team, like Leonel, who provides great tours, is also a significant plus for prospective residents.
However, it is important for prospective residents to be aware of some of the challenges that have been noted. Recent reviews point to issues such as frequent elevator outages, intermittent hot water problems, and pest issues. The cost of on-site laundry and recent rent increases have also been a point of frustration for some tenants, who feel that management has not provided adequate concessions for these inconveniences. While these issues are worth considering, it is also important to note that many residents still find the building's overall quality and amenities to be a worthwhile investment for luxury living in NoMad. The mix of a central location, a gorgeous new look, and a wide array of amenities ultimately makes The Capitol a compelling option for those who are looking for a top-tier apartment complex in a fantastic New York neighborhood, provided they are willing to navigate some of the common challenges of high-density urban living.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Gorgeous building with top-notch amenities. They recently re-did all of the common areas and they look fabulous as well as very well maintained. The apartments are spacious with a variety of layouts and terrific views. This is luxury living in Nomad at its finest. Leonel in the leasing office is extremely responsive and helpful, and he gives great tours!
April 14 · Alexandra Stathis TsaoThe staff in the building are wonderful. That being said - despite paying a large yearly amenity fee and enduring hefty rent increases year after year, I have found myself dissatisfied with the conditions in The Capitol:- 1 elevator has been out of service for 3 months, with a second one feeling very unsafe to use. To make matters worse, we are now 2 weeks past the originally communicated service date, without any update or new ETA for when this elevator will be back in use. This has resulted in 10-15 minute wait times for an elevator, causing me to be late to work, miss work out classes, and just be generally frustrated. This is unacceptable for a building with this many tenants.- Hot water has been intermittently unavailable without any communication or warning to residents until day 3 of the issue, leaving residents unexpectedly unable to shower, run their dishwashers, etc. and unable to plan accordingly.- I have been shocked to find multiple cockroaches in my apartment despite being on a high floor in a luxury building. When I contacted management about this, they informed me that the exterminator only comes once a week so I will have to wait 5 days for this pest issue to be addressed.- (edited 3/29 to add) The laundry room is highway robbery. One single load of laundry costs $9.00 to do ($4.50 for washer, $4.50 for dryer) with prices having gone up in my time living here without any notice. This has residents paying $20-$40 on any given week just to do laundry!Despite a clear inability to provide these basic needs to tenants, Bozzuto has not only raised their amenity fee by 50% this year, but they also have not provided any kind of concessions to tenants for these far from luxury conditions over the last few months.I hope management will make this right by providing rent concession to their frustrated residents.
March 29 · Rachel ShaimanLiving here has been a frustrating experience. In 2025 alone, we’ve dealt with broken elevators for months, leading to 10+ minute wait times, frequent hot water outages lasting days, and ongoing pest issues. 2024 was just as bad—rising amenity fees, severe plumbing problems that left my kitchen unusable, and walls left with holes for months due to delayed repairs and painting.Despite the declining quality of life, management still raised my rent by nearly 10% year-over-year. When I tried to negotiate, I was told they only offer 12-month leases and that I should feel “lucky” they didn’t increase it by 20%. It’s baffling how a so-called luxury building justifies constant rent hikes while conditions continue to worsen. The staff of the building like the doormen, etc are great people but the management company Bozzuto is run by clowns.
March 27 · Justin LevyIf I could give this building negative stars, I would. For a so-called “luxury” residence, it’s absolutely disgusting — infested with cockroaches. I’m talking multiple sightings a week, crawling out of vents, inside kitchen drawers, even in the elevator. Management is fully aware and yet completely indifferent.Instead of taking accountability, they brush off complaints, give vague excuses, or tell you it’s “normal for NYC.” No, what’s normal is a basic standard of cleanliness and pest control — something this building clearly does not care about. You’re paying thousands a month to live in what is essentially a glorified roach motel. The concierge might wear a suit and the lobby might have nice lighting, but it doesn’t change the fact that the apartments are crawling with vermin and management refuses to do a damn thing.Save yourself the trauma, the embarrassment of bringing guests over, and the constant dread of seeing something scurry across your floor. This place is a total scam.
June 17 · Julia GaffenDo NOT waste your money on this “luxury private residence.” The building let us sign our lease knowing that there was a cockroach problem in our unit and purposely withheld that information from us. They then told us we were on the “weekly exterminator list” before we went away for two weeks, which we’d hoped would resolve the issue before we got back. Much to our dismay, the building’s management in fact did not put us on the exterminator list, and we came home to 2 massive dead cockroaches and 1 massive living cockroach. Weeks later, the issue is still going on and we found a pregnant cockroach in our apartment. The building cannot even give us a guarantee that they’re going to handle the issue and instead told us that we could transfer apartments if we pay a $1500 transfer fee, give 30 days notice, and pay market for another unit (which is significantly higher than what we paid for it in the off season). They haven’t even apologized once that we’re having to deal with this and refuse to do anything. Their reactions have been nothing but foul and unprofessional. They’re probably going to reply to this review pretending that they want to help with the problem to make themselves look good to the outside world, but they should save their time because it’s a front. Fortunately I have a family of lawyers and may have to go that route if they can’t figure it out!
