Hard to believe this place markets itself as “luxury” living. Our time at Heatherwood in Port Jefferson Station was a stressful mix of health hazards, neglect, and false advertising.Shortly after moving in, I developed a recurring staph infection that persisted for all three years we lived there. It cleared up completely only after we moved out. It’s no wonder — the shared laundry machines are visibly filthy and likely breeding grounds for bacteria. They were never properly cleaned or maintained.Although Heatherwood claims to be a smoke-free community, the head of maintenance regularly smoked near building entrances. It’s hard to take the policy seriously when staff openly disregard it.The noise situation was just as bad. Downstairs neighbors constantly banged on the ceiling over normal, everyday sounds. Meanwhile, their child was left unsupervised to run, scream, and bounce balls off the walls for hours — sometimes starting before sunrise and continuing late into the evening. We documented everything, even submitted video evidence, and received no meaningful response.Safety around the complex was also a concern. Drivers frequently sped through the property with no regard for pedestrians or children. There are no speed bumps, and management made no effort to enforce even basic community rules.To make matters worse, we were forced to pay a community center fee—even though the facility was closed for over a year. No updates. No access. No reimbursement.Maintenance issues were frequent and poorly handled. Our “brand new” tub was already rusted when we moved in. Management’s solution? A magic eraser. The rust only got worse, and they even tried to bill us for it upon move-out. Thankfully, we had photo documentation and emails to protect ourselves. That was just one example of many issues that were either ignored or patched up poorly.Throughout our entire stay, management was consistently unresponsive and dismissive. Voicemails and emails about urgent matters often went unanswered. When we did get replies, they were slow and unhelpful.This isn’t just a poorly managed complex — it’s an environment that actively wears you down. Between the health risks, lack of safety, constant noise, and management’s refusal to act, we would never recommend Heatherwood to anyone. You’re completely on your own here, even if you’re paying top dollar.Save yourself the stress. This place is not worth it.

apartment is nice but neighbors are constantly making noise slamming doors and blasting music. nothing is done about it. kids are always playing in the parking lot and aren’t supervised by a parent. they don’t move out of the way for moving cars and they are always touching peoples cars. there are cigarette butts and garbage in the grass and nothing is done about it.

We just moved in and it’s been great so far. Everybody is so attentive, maintenance is available all day, and the apartments are beautiful!
