When considering a vacation rental on Fire Island, it is crucial to choose a company that is reliable and provides a high level of service. While our company strives to provide a positive experience, it is worth noting that some customers have reported significant issues with their stays, ranging from cleanliness to customer service. One review mentioned a property that was "filthy and unprepared," with a "clogged toilet" and "uncollected garbage." Another customer experienced a "burst pipe," and both clients cited frustrating and unhelpful interactions with customer service representatives. It is important to be aware that some guests have faced challenges, including last-minute cancellations due to owners pulling their properties from the platform and unfulfilled promises for refunds or credits. These accounts highlight the importance of careful consideration and thorough research before booking. While our company works to address these issues, it is essential for potential customers to be aware of the range of experiences shared by past guests. We encourage all prospective travelers to read through our policies and communicate any concerns directly, so that we can work toward a resolution. Choosing a vacation rental platform involves trusting a company to deliver on its promises, and we believe transparency is key to building that trust.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Vacasa is a nightmare. Our rental was filthy and unprepared: clogged toilet, old socks and food wrappers under the bed, weeks of uncollected garbage attracting flies and stench. To make it worse, they promised us a $50 refund for the disaster — which they never delivered, even after multiple follow-ups. Vacasa takes your money and gives you excuses. Avoid them at all costs.
August 17 · Frank SantorellaI have used vacasa previously when renting a beach house for the weekend. Our house ended up having a burst pipe leaving us with no running water for 24+ hours. After having little help from Vacasa customer service, our property manager had came to talk to us and ended up allowing us an extended check out. Because our property manager was so helpful we decided to use Vacasa to book another house for this summer. We booked and put the deposit down in December for July, and received an email barely 2 months from our stay that the owner of the property was no longer doing business with Vacasa and that we could no longer rent our stay. We spent a day messaging back and forth with customer service through Vacasa who stated that they would help us find a new property and adjust the price. She initially stated that there were NO properties available, until we did our own research and found one out of our price range. She agreed to cover over half the cost of the new rental if we put a deposit down within 24 hours. The link to rebooking led to the previous rental (that was cancelled) which caused for confusion. After messaging with no response, we decided to call Vacasa. The representative on the phone informed us that they would not be covering any costs and the amount she offered was actually part of the payment of previous rental. We had clearly stated that the only payment we had made was a deposit, yet the funds she “offered” were from the full house payment. After we cleared this up, Vacasa informed us that there was NOTHING they could do to assist this horrible inconvenience. Customer service was rude, not thorough, and unprofessional. If you are considering booking through Vacasa, I urge you to choose another platform.
May 07 · ADELINE MICHELINIDon’t Ever use Vacasa- such a terrible organization. They promised to improve my rental rates. Then cut my rates by 40% charged me 20% and double booked my one rentals at twice the price - Stay Far Far Away. When I told them I would not allow their 1/2 price rentals - they tried to say they terminated my contract - if you got suckered by them - sue them - I won
July 21 · Robert PhillipsLocation a 10!!!We recently stayed at this home in seaview and had a great time overall, but there were definitely a few things that could be improved. The location was absolutely perfect — 10/10. Super close to the seaview market, ferry, and a quick walk to the beach. We also loved all of the outdoor spaces to hang out, the convenient outdoor shower, and the fact that the house was stocked with beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, and toys — that was a huge plus. The house was mostly as advertised and fit our group of 8 well in terms of sleeping arrangements, but the common living area was surprisingly small. With only enough seating for 4–5 people, it was tough for all of us to relax together at the end of the day. For a house that advertises sleeping 11, the living room definitely needs more functional seating. Another downside was the bikes. The listing noted multiple bikes, but only two were available — and one was practically broken and very hard to actually ride. The oversized chair in the living room was also broken; the footrest didn’t close properly, which made it difficult to get in and out of. And while my bed was fine, several in our group found the twin beds to be really hard and uncomfortable. And the bunk beds need to be tightened. They were very loose and shaky! The biggest disappointment was the communication. I reached out to vacasa with some questions before and during our stay and never heard back, which was frustrating. The house met our basic needs and we made the most of it, but a few updates and more responsive communication would go a long way in improving the overall experience.
July 09 · Lauren KulbergWe stayed in Seaview Fire Island. Our group consisted of adults from age 33-62. On our second night one member of our party went to do laundry which is located in a separate building that is off of the house connected by a bridge walkway. She went to lean on the railing and it fell apart resulting in her falling 6-8 feet. We had to call 911 and have her checked by EMTs. It resulted in bruises and swelling of her face and overall soreness. (She will be seeking further medical attention by her primary doctor now that we are home) A member from Vacasa did come to the house that evening but was very cold regarding the whole situation. They offered us a refund if we were to cut our vacation short for unused evenings. We requested a full refund for the negligence of property upkeep and were denied. There was absolutely no reason for a railing to give way like that and this incident could have easily resulted in permanent bodily injury or death. We would never stay at a Vacasa property again. Other than that the house as a whole was dirty, was unsafe for dogs or kids (inside stairs are steep and railing is unstable) and we found several coackroaches, the house had no hair dryer and the bicycles were broken. When I brought the other concerns to the property manager her response was "I'm sorry you have had a less than desirable experience" with no offer on how to fix or replace any of those items. Also- no fire detectors in the house. Spots for them but they were empty.
