At first, we felt that it was important to leave in a good community even if it meant to pay higher than we would have paid in other places. The children seemed to enjoy the community. However, AvalonBay Communities Management personnel lacks sensitivity. We have been at the Avalon for 3 years. We paid between $3100 to $3400/month for three years. The last time we were late, we almost got evicted resulting in a $750 eviction fee. Even when we were paying after the 5th, we always paid the late. We changed apt from 527 Avalon Court Dr to 416 leaving the apt spotless, still our security deposit was retained. We still managed to stay another year until we recently moved out on 3/24/17. We cleaned out the apt, washed the tubs, cleaned the kitchen, and still the management office is requesting $1897.52 in fees claiming damage and carpet replacement. This is by far the worst experience we've ever had and we will make sure the world knows not to come to this place. We knew the Office was going to play a stunt like this, so we made sure we took pictures. Our goal is to file a formal complaint with Better Business Bureau against AvalonBay Communities. This must be investigated because it is not fair what management is doing to its renters especially when they decide to leave.Even if this was the last place on earth, I would rather leave in the streets than going back. Some of the people in the office are so phony. All the so called damages that are being claimed are a farce. The year before we had a company clean the carpet, our security deposit was still retained. This year, we cleaned and vacuumed because Avalon is supposed to prepare the apt for the next tenants. It is not our job to make the apt like new again. This is normal wear and tear and Avalon needs to keep the end of their bargain.This place is far from a luxurious apartment. It is clean and the maintenance staff is nice. AvalonBay Management team has a long way to go especially with the hidden and illegal fees as well as good customer service. I knew we would be paying a lot of money when we first moved in back in 2013. However I didn't expect the office would try to steal more from me. Avalon has a lot of work to do. They clearly forget what real customer service is all about. No, I will not refer anyone to the Avalon Apts.
