The building staff (i.e, doormen, handymen, etc.) are great but the building management is literally the worst. We have lived here nearly 5 years and this year they have hit us with 30% increase to our rent with no flexibility to negotiate after being great tenant for 5 years, paying our rent every month consistently on time and dealing with the building being under construction for the entire time of our residency here. Our balcony and rooftop have been completely locked and not useful due to the 5-year construction. The building has 0 amenities and the elevators are broken down every other day. Meanwhile, they have the audacity to increase our rent 30% which is $1K in one year. I have gone back and forth so many times with our leasing agency but she wasn’t able to lower the price much for us and the building management is a mystery. The phone numbers they have listed always go to a voicemail and no one ever reaches back out to you. Don’t bother with this building, they don’t even have the decency to treat their own tenants with fairness.
August 11 · Pardis KhorasaniThis place is absolutely horrible. They had a leak in the sink that they fixed with duct tape, and it is leaking again. The heat wouldn’t turn on, so they called someone to fix it, but now it won’t turn off and they can’t run the ac while the hulking is running heat. The apartment stays 82 degrees at times, and they keep saying that part is ordered. This maintenance request was filed 1.5 years ago. Then again, the elevators aren’t working; only one is, and the line is all the way around the lobby. Then they want to increase rent by 22%. The management is a joke and will not fix or replace anything. When you say something, they just say it’s in process. The elevators haven’t worked since May 2 years ago. Don’t come here; you will literally have to plan 15 mins to get down from your floor and another 15 mins to go up. Oh, and let’s not forget the countless times people have gotten stuck in the elevator; literally, they had to tell the front desk one time that someone is ringing the alarm.
March 14 · Deep Khurana100 John is a decently nice building with solid units. Most of the concierge staff are all great people who are very helpful and friendly. However, renting an apartment in this building is not wise. The elevators consistently break down (there are 4 total in the building and usually there is only one working). The water gets turned off more frequently than you would expect due to frequent plumbing/leakage issues. Worst of all, the building GROSSLY overcharges on utilities. No, I am not exaggerating. I rented a studio apartment that did not exceed 550 square feet and I was charged between $250-450 for utilities per month. (For comparison, my family's house with two separate HVAC units does not exceed $250-300 per month.) One time, i checked my bill and legitimately saw a utilities charge for $750. I'm not sure if its the utility provider or the building or both trying to rob their tenants, but there is no logical reason that my studio should reach that bill. Many others in the building also complained about exorbitantly high utility bills. Oh and good luck contacting the management office regarding literally any issue. They will take MONTHS to respond, if they even choose to. The building also allowed the package room to be unlocked for a period of time where people could " just grab whatever is yours." (insane)I completely understand the lure of living in NYC and I definitely plan on moving back to the city soon. However, moving here is a giant mistake. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

While the rooms are spacious and the aesthetic is fine (quite outdated but still not bad), this is truly the worst building I have ever experienced in NYC and it should not be advertised as a luxury building. Usually only one out of four elevators work (sometimes none of them work so if you live on a high floor you are screwed). I have never seen more than two of the elevators working at a time. The doormen, as nice as they are, do not do anything besides sit at the desk. Anyone is able to walk into the building at any moment. Scaffolding has been up since I moved in one year ago and, from what I have been told, it had been up for a couple of years prior. I have never seen any work being done on the building and the scaffolding blocks every window's view. Lastly, the rooftop has had construction going on since I moved in a year ago and, similarly, I have been told this had been ongoing prior to my move in. No progress has been made so this will be the second summer in which we cannot use the roof. The building is a mess. Save yourself and pick somewhere else. I am very much so looking forward to my lease ending.
