Mauro Brothers Real Estate Introduce
When it comes to real estate in New York City, particularly in a vibrant and historic neighborhood like East Harlem, having a local partner is often seen as a significant advantage. This article provides an overview of Mauro Brothers Real Estate, an agency located at 239 E 116th St in New York, NY. While the provided contact information and business type identify it as a real estate agency, public data, including customer reviews, paints a picture that is at odds with a typical positive business profile. This content is structured to provide an informative and factual look at the business from the perspective of a local user, compiling available public information to help New Yorkers make informed decisions.
The core of any business’s reputation is its track record and how it interacts with its clients. The reviews provided raise serious concerns about the agency's operations and customer service. One review describes a series of unresolved maintenance issues, including a prolonged period with squirrels in the walls, a delayed appliance replacement, and frozen pipes in winter. The user claims to have been offered a potentially hazardous solution and that the agency was unresponsive. Another significant issue raised is a false accusation of theft. This is a very serious claim that speaks to the nature of the relationship between the agency and its tenants or clients. The second review echoes these concerns and goes further, alleging that the business operates under multiple names, specifically mentioning "Salon Realty Corp." The user claims that applications submitted to this new entity were not processed, calls and messages went unanswered, and fees were taken without a service being rendered. The user explicitly labels the operation as a "scam" and warns others not to waste their money.
This article is a compilation of publicly available data, including the provided address and phone numbers, as well as the aformentioned customer reviews. It's important for potential clients to be aware of these types of public complaints before engaging with a real estate agency. The information is presented in a clear and factual manner, without endorsement or judgment, to provide a transparent overview of the business's public perception.
Location and Accessibility
Mauro Brothers Real Estate is located at 239 E 116th St # 2, New York, NY 10029, USA. This address places the agency in East Harlem, a culturally rich and centrally located neighborhood. East 116th Street is a main corridor, making the location potentially accessible via public transportation, including buses and nearby subway lines. For those who choose to visit the office, its central location within Manhattan offers a degree of convenience for clients from the surrounding area. However, the reviews suggest that the business might not be operational or might be operating under a different name from this location, a detail that prospective clients would need to verify.
Services Offered
Based on the provided type of business, Mauro Brothers Real Estate is identified as a real estate agency. In the most general terms, such an agency would typically offer a range of services for both property owners and those seeking to buy, sell, or rent. However, given the nature of the provided reviews, it is not possible to confidently list specific, positive services that are reliably provided. Instead, the public data points to a focus on property management and rental services, as clients' experiences relate to a tenancy and rental application process.
Property Management: As per the reviews, the agency appears to have been involved in the management of rental properties, as the first client describes living in a building where they were responsible for upkeep. The issues raised, however, suggest that these services were not performed to a satisfactory standard.
Rental Services: The second review explicitly mentions the process of submitting an application for a rental property, with money being taken and no follow-up provided. This indicates that they were involved in the rental market, but with significant issues in the application process itself.
Real Estate Listings: The public data suggests that the agent Andre and the agency are involved in listing properties for rent and sale, as is standard for a real estate agency. However, the reviews suggest a disconnect between the listed properties and the actual service provided.
Features / Highlights
While a typical article would list positive features, the available information on Mauro Brothers Real Estate presents significant concerns that serve as "highlights" in a cautionary sense.
Multiple Business Names: One of the most critical points raised by a reviewer is the claim that the business operates under multiple names, specifically Mauro Brothers Real Estate and Salon Realty Corp. This could lead to confusion and is a key red flag for potential clients. Furthermore, the claim that one of these entities is shut down while the other is used for new applications is highly irregular and worth noting.
Lack of Responsiveness: Both reviews describe a severe lack of communication and responsiveness from the agency. One client mentioned needing "constant reminders" for basic property upkeep, while the other claimed that calls and voice messages went unanswered after application fees were paid.
Allegations of Misconduct: The reviews contain serious accusations, including being "falsely accused of stealing" and the operation being a "scam" for taking application money without providing a service. These are not minor complaints but severe allegations of professional and ethical misconduct.

What is worth choosing
When considering a real estate agency in New York, the decision to work with a particular firm should be based on trust, professionalism, and a history of positive client outcomes. The information available in the public domain for Mauro Brothers Real Estate, particularly the provided customer reviews, does not present a favorable picture. Instead of highlighting positive aspects, the reviews raise significant red flags, including allegations of unresponsiveness, poor property management, and financial misconduct, such as accepting application fees without providing a service. The claim that the business operates under multiple names further complicates the matter and adds to the public's skepticism. For New Yorkers, the real estate market is already challenging enough without the added risk of dealing with a firm that has such a controversial public record. It is crucial for potential clients to conduct thorough research, look for a consistent history of positive reviews, and seek out agencies with clear and transparent business practices. The information presented here suggests that Mauro Brothers Real Estate, and its associated entities like Salon Realty Corp, may not be a trustworthy choice, and exercising extreme caution would be a prudent course of action for anyone considering their services.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was falsely accused of stealing by Andre after dealing with years of squirrels in my walls among various other issues. It took weeks to get an appliance replaced. My pipes froze every winter and the only solution offered was to use an extension cord and space heater which is a fire hazard. Unresponsive and needs constant reminders to upkeep the property imo. Apparently runs under multiple business names per other reviews. This final accusation from them is absolutely ridiculous and I will no longer be keeping quiet as a result.
August 13 · Colleen EggersAndre has this listing as the company for multiple properties. But it shows its been shut down. Also refers you to his new company Salon Realty Corp to submit applications. They do not process them nor answer calls or respond to voice messages and texts. DO NOT waste your money here. They will take your application money and never get back to you. SCAM. I should have listened to the reviews.
December 27 · E SPlease steer clear of this business. Andre Mauro is a thief. He never picks up his phone, and doesn't return calls in a timely manner. He is lazy and you have to stay on top of him to submit paperwork to the owners of the property. Make sure you pay any deposit and broker fees with Postal money orders, so you can track them if need be. My Partner and I put down a deposit, paid our broker fee, and because of his delay in submitting paperwork lost the apt. We had to chase him for our deposit, and then he cashed our broker fee check and said he can't return it because he spent it. These were his words "my bad, I can't return the money because I spent it". He is very unprofessional. I am now in a legal battle with this company and it's proprietor Andre Mauro. DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN WITH YOUR MONEY. PAY YOUR BROKER FEE WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR KEYS IN HAND.
February 20 · rette2499Unfortunately I had a not so great experience with George. During the application process, there was a 500$ holding deposit and it stated it would be used for security deposits if lease was signed and returned if not approved. He never once told me about what would happen if you were approved and didn’t move forward. I think this is extremely important information that should be mentioned before submitting the application since it is very common for applicants to be submitting multiple applications to multiple locations and knowing that if you decide on a different apartment you will NOT get your money back from George.
August 12 · allison riveraMy husband and I spent a weekend looking for an apartment in preparation for our move from Michigan. The weekend was so stressful and I almost didn't want to move anymore until we dealt with George. He was so kind. He was in constant contact about our desired apartment and helped us find the perfect place in the best location. He was the best thing about our weekend and I am so thankful for him and the Mauro brothers!
