Navigating the rental market is hard enough! My girlfriend did a lot of research and knew meeting her criteria was going to be difficult, we looked at a few dozen places with different rental agents and were getting frustrated. So imagine her relief when she ran into an old friend who was the realtor showing us a house that seemed to fit the bill.It was expensive, she was told it was most likely negotiable, NOT, it was promised to be professionally cleaned before occupancy, NOT, it needed to be painted, there were things in disrepair and of course that became her problem. $300 for 2 days of professional cleaning, $500 in paint and sorted parts and lumber for minor repairs out of her pocket all the while with a promise of some compensation. It has been months and so far no real explanation or reimbursement. I feel like they’ll say anything just to make a sale. It’s just not fair that they can walk away after a lease is signed.
